  • I tutor every math course offered in middle school/Jr. high. For high school/college prep I can help with all courses through AB Calculus and Statistics. I do not consult for BC Calculus, Multivariable Calculus and courses beyond that advanced college material beyond Calculus 1.

  • I have almost 30 years experience in education including 12 years in middle school (6th-8th grade) and 17 years at the high school level. I have taught advanced/honors/AP level courses every year but one. I have worked with students that have aspired everything from trade schools and community college, to those who aim for the Ivy’s and many of America’s premier institutions of higher learning.

I consult with the College Board, helping schools and teachers around the world plan and execute their AP Statistics programs. I help those organizations with everything from course planning, utilizing AP Classroom, recruiting students, planning lessons and instruction, and creating and implementing assessments. I am also an AP Reader, part of the international group of teachers and professors that grade the AP exam each summer.

I also have consulted for the National Math and Science Initiative where I assisted school districts with planning/creating entire courses from scratch, revamping existing courses and training teachers on best teaching practices.

  • Your student and I will work together using a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Zoom or Google Meet. Using these platforms allows your student to see my work and explanations, and I can see their work provided they are also using a tablet paired with digital version of their notes, or a gooseneck clamp to position their phone over their work as we talk. The sessions work fine without either option as the student can still see my work, and you can send their documents to me digitally so I can share them on the shared screen. The student does not need to leave their video on if you prefer.

  • For AP Statistics and AB Calculus I have a large database of sample problems and examples/notes. The student will receive a digital copy of the examples that match each lesson and will have those to keep. All materials for those courses come with a key. For other courses we will work off whatever materials your student has and I can provide extra examples during the session if needed. (courses that are not structured consistently like AP courses tend to be too unpredictable to have premade materials ahead of time)

  • Anywhere you have an internet connection that supports video streaming and where you are comfortable!

  • Results are never guaranteed, there are far to many variables that occur outside of a consulting session to be able to guarantee any specific outcome. What I can promise is that I have the ability to take difficult mathematical concepts and ‘translate’ them into simpler terms. Math/Stats books are often written in language that is not conducive to non-experts in the field, something that most students are inherently not. My clients repeatedly tell me that concepts make more sense after I break them down into their simplest components and then build them back up.

  • Sessions last right at an hour (~55 minutes). Sending necessary documents and topics ahead of time helps maximize that time to be productive.

  • This is entirely up to you. Usually an hour a week is sufficient for regular maintenance of skills. Most of my clients prefer to have a set time every week (ex: Tuesdays at 6) for predictability and to guarantee a session. If the course is especially difficulty or you have missed multiple classes then an hour might not be sufficient. If you feel comfortable with the material and just need a review before an exam, then you can schedule a session just before exams.

  • If you need to cancel before the session there is no charge provided you cancel at least 12 hours before the session. If you cancel within the 12 hour period you will owe 50% of the session fee in order to schedule another session.

There are no refunds for sessions that are completed or if you terminate a session before it is over.

If you experience technical difficulties I will do everything I can to reschedule the missing time but if that is not possible the full session fee is still owed.
