Meet your consultant

Hello, my name is John and I am your consultant!

I partner with ambitious students, discerning families, and forward-thinking school systems who understand that success—whether at the individual or institutional level—requires more than effort alone. It requires expertise, strategy, and precise execution.

With nearly 30 years of experience in mathematics education, I serve as a high school mathematics department chair in the Dallas area and as a national consultant for the College Board in AP Statistics. In this role, I work with educators and districts to strengthen curriculum, refine instructional practices, and align assessment to maximize student performance.

I have taught every level of secondary mathematics, from middle school through AP Calculus, and have led mathematics departments since 2002. As an annual reader for the AP Statistics Exam, I bring direct insight into how high-level student work is evaluated—an advantage I translate into both my private tutoring and consulting engagements.

My students consistently achieve exceptional outcomes, including pass rates above 90% in AP Statistics and over 75% in AP Calculus AB. More importantly, they develop the analytical precision and academic confidence that distinguish top performers in competitive environments.

My private work is intentionally limited and highly personalized. I work with a select number of students and families who are committed to achieving meaningful academic results and positioning themselves for success in selective college admissions. Each engagement is tailored, strategic, and supported by ongoing access between sessions—ensuring efficiency, accountability, and sustained progress.

Consulting for Schools and Districts

In addition to private work, I provide high-level consulting services for schools and districts seeking measurable improvements in mathematics outcomes—particularly in AP Statistics and advanced coursework.

My consulting work focuses on:

  • Strategic planning for AP Statistics program implementation and growth

  • Instructional alignment and curriculum design

  • Assessment development and data-informed decision-making

  • Targeted professional development for teachers and instructional leaders

  • Building sustainable systems that improve both teaching quality and student performance

I have led professional development for groups ranging from small teams to audiences of over 200 educators and have supported schools in achieving significant gains in both participation and performance.

District leaders I work with value clarity, efficiency, and results. Engagements are customized to the specific goals and context of each school or system, with an emphasis on practical implementation and long-term impact.

While AP Statistics is a core specialty, my experience spans the full range of secondary mathematics, allowing me to support both individual students and institutions with depth and flexibility.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy traveling, staying active, and spending time with my family.
